NEBBIOLO PRIMA 2013: PREPARATIONS ARE WELL UNDER WAY FOR NEXT YEAR’S WINE SUMMIT
The quality of the new vintages of Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero will be previewed at the fourth edition of the event organised by Albeisa in Alba (CN) from 12th to 17th May
2013 will once again feature what has been defined as “the Italian wine summit par excellence”. The fourth edition of Nebbiolo Prima will be held from 12th to 17th May at the Palazzo Mostre e Congressi in Alba. Taking centre stage will, as usual, be the three best-known expressions of the Piedmontese grape variety: Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero.
The event organised by Albeisa, the association that promotes the historic local bottle that was designed in the eighteenth century in order to give added value to the wines of the Langhe area, will take place over five days. Journalists from all over the world will gather together to take part in a pre-release tasting and evaluation of the following vintages: Barolo 2009 and Riserva 2007, Barbaresco 2010 and Riserva 2008, Roero 2010 and Riserva 2009.
Overall there will be around 200 producers and 300 wines presented, making this one of the most important international events devoted to the wine trade. The programme will follow the format that has made Nebbiolo Prima so successful in recent years. Each morning there will be blind tastings, at which the press will compare notes in order to define the quality of the vintages that will be released onto the market in 2013. During the afternoons, on the other hand, the guests will be able to familiarise themselves with the various faces and facets of the Langhe, where the terroir offers a veritable mosaic of expressions, rendered unique by the interpretations given to them by the producers. These men and women will, thanks to the winery visits envisaged during Nebbiolo Prima, be able to tell their own stories, explain their philosophies and recount the passions of their individual families.
There will also be educational sessions, such as seminars and visits to the crus, as well as the chance to get to know the most beautiful spots in the Langhe. The programme will, therefore, allow each of the participants to choose a “made-to-measure” formula, dealing in greater detail with those aspects that are of most interest. As always, the philosophy underlying the event will be to offer wine specialists a complete panorama of the various expressions of Nebbiolo in its outstanding homeland.
Albeisa was founded in 1973 as the result of an idea of Renato Ratti. Its aim is to give an identity – by means of a bottle with a distinctive and special shape - to the very best products of the Langhe district. It is a non-profit association, whose principal goal is the promotion and valorisation of the wines of the Alba area.
